John - Forklift & Labourer

'The new role has given me my life back. It no longer revolves around work, and I get to spend more time with my little boy.'

KFM Recruitment gave me what I wanted most - more time with my little boy!

I was self-employed after leaving my job of nearly a decade not too long ago. In a short time, I'd been through five or six different jobs in various locations around the country. I was travelling almost an hour and a half to get to work at times, and it became unmanageable with a little boy at home who was not even two years old.

I started looking for Forklift jobs in the area and applied for a job online over a weekend. Ian contacted me on a Monday and scheduled an interview with the site manager for later that day. By Wednesday, I'd got the job and was working.

It's only a small team; having met the manager before I'd started and gotten on well with him, settling in was easy. They're a genuinely good team here. I was taken on permanently after 14 weeks.

Before approaching KFM Recruitment, I went from job to job, often travelling miles and working silly hours, sometimes up to 70 weekly. I had no spare time to see my little boy.

Now, things couldn't be more different. I work four days a week and get a three-day weekend. I'm only 20 minutes away from work in the morning and ten on the way home when the roads are clear.

Working 40 hours a week is much better for me, and overtime is available if I want it. Roughly once a month, I take advantage of the higher overtime rate. I call it a megabucks weekend - It's a nice little way of earning some extra occasionally without having to work crazy hours every week.

The new role has given me my life back. It no longer revolves around work, and I get to spend more time with my little boy.
